Iveta Vecenāne

Biography
Is a graduate of the Riga School of Applied Art and the Textile Art Department of the Latvian Academy of Art, where she created her diploma work under the tuition of R. Heimrāts. She has obtained a Master’s Degree in Art. She has participated in exhibitions since 1986. Textile art is the sphere of her activities, and this includes tapestries, silk painting, fashion design and textile ornaments. She is also a graphic designer, book illustrator and writer.
She has held many solo exhibitions in Latvia (the Apsīda Gallery in the Museum of Decorative Art and Design, the Bonhans Gallery, etc.) and abroad: Tallinn in Estonia (2003) Tucson in the USA (2006), Vilnius in Lithuania (2007), Prague in the Czech Republic (2009), Espoo in Finland (2010) and St Petersburg in Russia (2010).
Vecanāne has taken part in more than 40 group exhibitions in Sweden, Germany, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia and elsewhere.
She has written and illustrated books about the large family of Grandpa Antontiņš: “My Grandpa Antons” (Mans vectētiņš Antontiņš. R.: Madris, 1999) and “Grandpa Antons and Us” (Vectētiņš Antontiņš un mēs. Design by Ū. Laukmane. R.: liels un mazs, 2009). She has also used photographs to create original book designs. The book “Grandpa Antons and Us” was nominated for the 2009 Jānis Baltvilks Prize.
